SET UP YOUR CUTTER
Parallel
Parallel connection is considered a bit outdated in the sense that most modern computers don’t have serial or parallel ports. This way of communication does not require any driver to be installed. Please note that SignCut does not offer support for parallel communication on Mac computers.
How to setup:
1. Go to device and printers in your computer (found in the control panel). Click “Add a printer”.
2. Click “Add a local printer”.
3. Click “Use an existing port” and select LPT1 in the list.
4. As manufacturer you select “Generic” and for printer you select “Generic/Text only”.
5. Name your cutting plotter to a name that is something you can identify/remember.
6. Choose if you want to share your cutting plotter on the network. (We recommend you to not do this if you’re only going to use it on one computer).
7. When it asks you to “Print out a test page” you skip that step since your cutter isn’t a printer and it can’t do that. Just click “Finish”.
After this is done, when you start SignCut your cutter will show up in the Output Device/Port under the name you gave it. Select it and then try to do a test cut.
If you intend to share your cutter on the network now on the computer that’s going to use the shared cutter, make sure it finds the shared cutter and choose it as Output device/Port in SignCut. Now when you cut out the data will be sent to the shared cutter.
Good Luck!
Next step, install SignCut
